Bidar: The State Government will release funds in a special package to develop Bidar into a centre of spiritual tourism.
Bidar has at least ten places considered holy by various religious groups, and devotees from across the country flock to these places regularly. If the civic facilities in these places are improved, the number of people visiting them will go up. "We want to capitalise on this advantage and ensure development of the district," Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Bandeppa Kashempur said here on Thursday. He was speaking to presspersons during a visit of tourist places around the city organised by the North East Karnataka Transport Corporation.
A proposal would soon be submitted to the Government to take up the comprehensive development of these places, he added. "Minister for Tourism Development B. Sriramulu has said that there is no dearth of funds," Mr. Kashempur said.
Special emphasis would be laid on the development of adventure tourism. Some parts of the city had ancient underground aquaducts and these were built to allow men on horseback to get through the city. These will be developed as areas of adventure tourism spots, he added. Unexplored portions of the fort would also be used for the purpose, he said. Boating facilities would be provided in the Bommagondeshwar Lake inside the fort and local youth would be trained to be tourist guides. "We will strive towards ensuring civil aviation in the city," Mr. Kashempur said.
The Government would also develop Shukla Teertha, a mountain spring in Navadgeri on the outskirts of the city. It also plans to construct a Yatri Nivas at the Mailar Mallanna temple in Khanapur in Bhalki taluk, he added. The temple attracts devotees from Maharashtra and other States, he added. "We plan to provide additional benefits to these tourists, so that they spread positive information about the place and bring more visitors," he said. The Government would also assist the temple trust to renovate kundas and holy tanks, around the temple, he said. City Municipal Council members K. Vithal and Ramesh D., Mailar Mallanna temple trust chairman Basavaraj Hede, NEKRTC officials and others were present.

Comments
(a) Build a well width bridge on canal near the temple for smoothlhey passing of devotees by foot as well as by vehicles at the same time.
(b) Remove the shops which are of tadjascent to temple wall and shift them little away from the surrounding wall.
(c) Increase the beautification of surrounging wall with yellow colour and photos of gods.
(d) Open the Bid of new hotel with well equiped and good heigine and sanitation. The present condition
of the hotel is very poor and the devotees are coming from all walks of life.
(e) Build a shoe/chappal room for safety and also clean of the ground of the temple by this increase the sentiments of bhakti towards the god by seeing bare footed devotees in sorrounding.
